|OCTOBER 19, 2013 - Tiger Smalls was inducted into the California Hall of Fame. He was surrounded by
friends and family. His acknowledgement is touching and sincere;
"First of all I would like to congratulate ALL of the 2013 California Boxing Hall of Fame inductees. When I
retired I didn't feel that I exceeded my full potential due to the faulty political decisions I made, but this
ceremony made me feel as if I was forgiven and accepted by my peers. To me there is no better closure to a
career than being honored in this way. I would like to thank my Mother for instilling in me the never give up,
never quit attitude, and my Dad for taking me to the gym even when he didn't want to; my sister IE for
managing the first part of my career; my wife for her support throughout the years; The Pride, Prince Smalls,
Ralik & Rashalique Ali Smalls. I thank Bill Crawford for helping me reinvent myself as a coach, trainer, and
mentor. Also, I would like to thank these men who taught me the science, the game, and the business, Ernest
Johnson The late Joe Medley, the late Noe Cruz, the late Alex Sheer, the late great Archie Moore, Rudy Tellez,
Tony Curtis, Shadeed Suluki, Roger Mayweather & Jeff Mayweather (Golden Gloves Gym & Nevada Partners
days). Finally I would like to thank the people that support me now along with team PTS; Rick Farris for
making a lot of people aware that I was one of the greats in California; Bobby DePhilippis, Ducqets, Cotixan
Mexican Food , Maria Dunning, Danielle Arrington, Lynda Chang, Antonio Orozco, Mark Andrew, and my
assistants Ivan Pineda, Andrea Reyes, Cherish DeAlba, Kriss Pearson, Lee W., Joe Sayotivich and the rest of the
San Diego Combat Academy family. If I forgot anyone I am sorry, but it is hard to remember everything and
everyone when you are this overwhelmed. So, there might be a Part 2 to this!"
